A yearbook time machine

I remember my grade 9 yearbook
when it was fresh off the presses
it was something I never had before
a keepsake of the year
it was new
it was hardbound

i remember remarking
"this will never get dated"

soon it did
and I wondered how that had happened

it was my first awareness
that even if I just stood still with it
time was passing
